Afternoon Organ Recital: The Émigré Songbook
Guest Artist Program
The Émigré Songbook is a concert-lecture exploring how 20th-century migration reshaped the sound of art song, jazz, Broadway and film music. Featuring works by composers including Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Erich Korngold, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, the program will examine how exile, adaptation and cultural exchange helped define the musical identity of Los Angeles and modern America. Through performance and historical commentary, it will highlight displacement as a powerful creative force in 20th-century music.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted. For more information, visit callutheran.edu/music or contact the Music Department at 805-493-3305 or music@CalLutheran.edu.
